The Life of Ben

Ben Adrian began his life in California on March 16th, 1975 in Huntington Beach, CA. When four years of age, his family located to Indianapolis, Indiana, although Ben's bigwheel did get left in California. Shortly after his arrival in Indianapolis, his family moved to the suburb of Carmel. He went entirely through Carmel schools, graduating in 1993.

Ben started singing as early as elementary school. He wanted to join the handbell choir, but did not make it in. He started playing saxophone in sixth grade, but stopped after one year. Ben, however, did continue singing throughout Jr. High. Of course, somewhere around this time puberty hit, and his voice went nutty. So when Ben entered high school, he dropped choir and took up the guitar. To fulfill his musical schooling, Ben completed two years of music theory, and a year of jazz improvization on guitar. He was also the guitarist for one of the schools jazz bands.

Ben joined his first band in 9th grade. They were effectively called Out of Order. He was the singer and guitarist, but after hiring another guitarist, he became the lone singer. This band died quite soon after it's formation. But this led into his next band...

Sunny Sea Heaven went through 3 years and 12 members (7 serious, and 5 part time, but the band never exceeded five people at once). The members were Nathan, Lauren, Derrick, Roffi, Ben, Simon, Holly, Sara, Matt, Brock, Angie, and Jon. Ben did almost all of the music writing with Nathan writing most of the lyrics. Sunny Sea Heaven released two tapes in their time; Wombat and Singularity.

Unfortunately, Sunny Sea Heaven played their last show in June of 94. In January of '94, however, Ben had started his newest project, Lockstep, with friend Dave Schalliol. Lockstep was a hardcore band that played with many "bigger" bands in the underground, hardcore scene; such as Hoover, Snapcase, Endpoint, and Falling Forward. They, like Sunny Sea Heaven, died due to drummer problems, in January of 1995. They have a split 7" record with Jaquay released.

In November of 94, Ben followed an urge and started to play drums in the newly formed band, sohcahtoa. Sohcahtoa is still around today, having played many local shows, and a couple of out of town shows. They have been recording a lot recently (thanks to Simpleton Studios) and plan to release their first 7" by October.

In June of '95, Ben, wanting to play guitar again, formed The Sunflower Conspiracy...
